A band fronted by Keith Ross whose more recent solo CD is reviewed elsewhere, 'No Compromise' features Ross on bass and lead vocals and Phil Holder playing some very stylish guitar. The opener "There's Somebody" sets the scene with its acoustic Claptonesque feel and although this is good old fashioned rock'n'pop with plenty of acoustic atmosphere thrown in, there is something vibey about the whole thing. It works better on the acoustic material than the more up tempo stuff where the limitations of the budget unfortunately show through. Generally, there's something simple and honest about the music here and my favourite is another acoustic track, "The Love Of Jesus" which has a straight forward Gospel message. Focussed spiritually, well constructed and working within a limited budget, if I am honest I think 'Cling To Me' is better than Ross's more recent solo release.
