One of the obscurest acts to be re-issued by Document, this group recorded 17 sides as The Blue Chips, some of which were gospel ("Crying Holy Unto The Lord" and "Pray For Me Sometime") but others were a kind of close harmony blues of decidedly secular content ("I'm A Rattlesnakein' Daddy" and "Let's Get Drunk And Truck"). There are also six sides here released as by Norridge Mayhams & His Barbeque Boys with again decidedly unedifying material ("Sloppy Drunk Woman"). How sincere were these harmonisers about their faith? Goodness only knows.
