A middle of the road folk album from the three Jamieson brothers from Shetland. Their voices are pleasant, melodic and always clear and in fact my favourite track was the acappella "Peace In The Valley" where their harmonies really get to shine. The musicianship here is up to the task too without being anything exceptional - I particularly liked the mandolin licks, and occasional use of harmonica and cello, though I found the banjo a little too busy in the background. The choice of material is a good balance of the familiar, like "Where Could I Go" and "Rock Of Ages", and lesser known songs like "Rowin Foula Doon". The boys are prone to metaphor with particular emphasis on themes of journey - eg, "Sea Of Life" and "Mountain Railroad". All pretty competent though I'd have liked the material to have more of an edge, more soul. A case in point is their version of the old country hit "Sea Of Heartbreak" - the heartbreak just didn't come across in their high-speed delivery.
