This tasty 10-track offering is a follow up to Not's previous 'I Wonder' effort and at just £4.50 including post and packing represents great value for money to anyone with neo-punk leanings. The whole thing was recorded as a live set at secular Southport venue The Academy, with technical help from Humberside's Small And Hairy Christian music collective. There's some strong stuff (eg, "Gold") and a guest appearance from their back catalogue fave "Precious Depression". The between track patter is pretty ingratiating, but that apart 'Bakers Born And Bred' is a useful asset to a band on the way back after "playing ourselves into the ground" and facing countless other personal/communication problems in the past year. Prayers are asked for and I encourage a positive response on this count. Christianity needs bands from every range of the musical spectrum and, knowing a couple of guys with a ministry of witnessing to "travellers", this lot would stand a better chance than most of being listened to by those on the near-anarchic social fringe. Their ear shattering wall of sound is not for the faint hearted, but can best be appreciated by punks past and present, like The Lurkers' number one fan (and world's best number three) Stuart Pearce of Forest and England fame. Think I'll drop this one into him at the nearby city ground, as it's the sort of thing he plays on the dressing room ghetto blaster - if he sends you a cheque lads, frame it!
