Ah, the African Children's Choir; they always look so cute on stage, the little darlings. Ever wondered what happens to them when they grow up? Well, if they all follow Omega's path, the answer is: they move to America, study at a top college and become scientists, then get bored with that and go back into music again. Omega was four when she was chosen to be in the choir's original line-up (probably the only member of the choir who wasn't an orphan; her mum helped run the orphanages set up by the charity behind the choir). She returned to music last year after spending time doing research in the field of Obstetrics & Gynaecology. She set up her own label and has since recorded three albums - of which, this is the one closest to her Ugandan roots, and is creating quite a buzz on the world music scene. The songs here are in both Loganda (Omega's native tongue) and Swahili. Alongside the gospel/worship-based stuff, there's a love song dedicated to her hubby ("Utama Wa Mapenzi" - in English, "Love Expressed"), and a plea to us to be better stewards of the planet ("Tugilabilile" - in English, "Let's Take Care Of It"). In English, the album's title means "it is sweet to the soul." That's an apt enough summing up of the album itself, in my humble opinion.
