One Step are a gospel choir based in Switzerland. The Motown oldie "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" opens this live disc. Indeed the majority of the material here will be familiar. Listing influences on their webpage such as George Michael, Elton John, Whitney Houston and R Kelly gives an insight into creative influence of One Step while the recording as a whole gives a valuable glimpse into the choir's vast and expanding repertoire. Included are covers of "Revive Us" by Anointed, Stevie Wonder's "AS", Kirk Franklin's "My Life Is In Your Hands" interspersed with helpings of Beethoven and Andrae Crouch! Performed under the stewardship of musical director Samuel Jonckheere the choir are accompanied on stage by a very tight group of musicians with particularly notable instrumentals in "Hosanna" and "It's Alright". The inlay did though have me trawling through my Anglo-French dictionary to make sense of the credits but all songs are performed in English I can assure you. Enjoyable though gospel purists won't be impressed.
