The praise group from Faith Life Church in Columbus, Ohio have followed up their well-received 2015 debut album with a second live offering that once again showcases the collective's polished modern worship sound. In the promotional notes, Open Heaven's worship director Amy Keesee Freudiger states that her aim is to create an atmosphere for the miraculous to happen - something that naturally gets lost when presented on audio - but both she and her team appear to keep things spontaneous enough to allow room for the Spirit to move with the lengthy and fluid "Heaven Pouring Out" being a prime example. The group have plenty of energy as evidenced in the likes of opening tracks "Sunrise" and "Your Love (The Freedom)" and - in true modern worship fashion - they know exactly when to slow things down before ramping it all back up again. Unfortunately, adopting this formulaic approach means it's difficult to differentiate this release from many others in the current worship field despite the fact that this is an undoubtedly competent collection of songs that seek to bring something of Heaven down to earth.
