I must admit, until I saw them headline day two of this year's Destruction Fest, I'd never heard of Opposition Of One. In fact, I knew next to nothing about the European Christian hard music scene and literally nothing of Germany's, despite them hosting the Christmas Rock Night and Freakstock. But thankfully that's changing. Opposition Of One are the kind of hardcore band that wouldn't look out of place on Facedown Records or even its mainstream equivalent. They are tight, explosive and full of energy. They experiment with other genres of music and the production on the album is high quality. Visually the band carries an energetic presence too. One drawback for me though, and I feel this can be said for many hardcore bands, is trying to discern which tracks are your favourites. The sad truth is that for me, my favourite track is the only song on the album that isn't theirs! Their cover of "We Will Not Be Stopped" (originally by the Dodgin Bullets) is excellent. It even allows a bit of hip-hop in at the end, as they reflect on the message behind the song they performed. In the German underground hardcore scene, they are really making a name for themselves. But in the Christian scene we must ask, (to quote Pillar's current album title) 'Where Do We Go From Here?' North America?!
