The Bonzo Dog Band once asked whether blue men could sing the whites. I don't know about that, but Scandinavia has a long history of producing gospel choirs (anyone remember Choralerna in the 1970s?) and the OGC have been going since 1988. Don't expect the unique timbre of African-American singers but do expect accurate European pop voices. And it's more polite charismatic than wild Pentecostal - although it does heat up by the end of the gig. The material is largely mainstream charismatic worship songs. Some, such as "The Power Of Your Love", work particularly well with a soloist and choir. DVD-wise, the lighting is excellent. The only glitch is a poor edit into the last song. The bonus feature Behind The Scenes adds little. Are they worth seeing live? Definitely. Just don't let the name lead you to expect LCGC or Hezekiah Walker: OGC are different and that's fine.

Sure I remember Choralerna - they blazed a trail for all sorts of blue-eyed European gospel choirs and singers from the early 70s right through to the 90s - my favourite memory is a truly anointed live reading of Dottie Rambo's classic 'I Go To the Rock' with the late great Danniebelle ...

OGC have energy, passion, voices like angels, and the annointing of god all over them. I recently heard them in croatia together with delirious, where they performed to a crowd that had not heard a public performance since 1968. The evening was spine tingleingly lovely.!! I am flying to Switzerland on December 1st 2006 to see them perform one of 3 shows there. Cant wait. Well done guys.
