It's no small event, held in Sherman, Texas, 20,000 gathered to join in with seven different worship leaders back in May ‘03. Exquisite vocals from Candi Pearson and Christy Nockels draw praise to God from the crowd and those within hearing of the CD. Which is neatly recorded, if not very slightly top heavy - bass sometimes struggles to cut through on live recordings - but this is far from the thin sound of some live CDs. Matt Redman leads his beautiful song "Come Let Us Return To The Lord"; its challenging lyrics can't fail to encourage worship from anyone with a heart to praise. There's nothing here that remotely resembles a shuffle; it's textured guitars with keyboard layers and a hefty drum level, driving forward like windscreen wipers in the rain. Charlie Hall rocks whilst encouraging all nations of the earth to praise God’s name. So too does the David Crowder Band, whose opener "O Praise Him" has a bona fide haunting chord progression. There are some mid-paced and slower songs too. This is the sixth CD in the Passion series, the first five have now sold a million copies between them. I can't see any reason why this trend shouldn't continue with ‘Sacred Revolution’.
