You really have to allow for cultural chasms on Boone's "28 Well Beloved Inspirational Favourites' as this is subtitled. Some of the contents, such as "Billy & Rex & Oral & Bob" and "I'll Meet You In Church Sunday Morning " are downright cringeworthy and as on much of Pat's work the syrupy sweetness throughout becomes quite hard to take over the whole CD. No reason to doubt the man's sincerity, of course, and tracks like "There Will Be Peace In The Valley" and squeaky clean white boy alternative to those naughty black rock 'n' rollers, maybe that gave him a feel for gospel-based material. Too insipid for me. but it takes all sorts.
