Hats off to ICC for capturing an album which for a while looked like it was going to gain release only in Germany where it was recorded. For this is Paul's best for years, demonstrating that the ex-Nutshell man has lost none of his songwriting craft. Helped by producer Helmut Jost, Paul has found a new edge to his sound which on albums past sometimes tended towards a sterile plod because of over reliance on the dreaded computer. Now there's a satisfying blend of 'real' instruments, (some particularly tasty sax from Peter Schultze) and sequencers et al while Paul's songs are eloquent, poignant and occasionally truly insightful. Like Martyn Joseph Paul is a man now thinking much more deeply about his faith and treasuring the questions. Is there a classic on 'For The World One Voice' for Cliff to cover and put Paul back in the Big Time? Probably not. But still a well crafted, well sung, well played song collection.
