The Psalms have been the core hymnbook of God's people since Old Testament times and in tapping into them as a worship resource for today's generations (young and old), UK Christian music veteran Paul Field is lifting children's music ministry well above the level of the many simple "God loves me"-type action songs with some solid Bible-based material. The 12 songs are easily-singable interpretations (not always literal) of 13 of the most cherished and well known Psalms - including Psalms 23, 100, 121 and 150. Performances feature the same school choir as both the recent ‘New Carols’ album and the ‘Spring Harvest Kids Praise’ CDs, augmented by some well executed solo leads from the increasingly gravel-voiced Paul himself, plus Lou Fellingham, John Perry and Antionette Munns. With church use in mind, backing tracks, music scores and OHP lyric sheets are supplied on a second CD, making it a well thought out and very useable package - I might even give some of these Psalms a try myself.
