Nicky Brown, one of Britain's top gospel producers, has found an artist with whom to stretch and surprise gospel music fans. Yes, there's the usual R&B gospel cuts one would expect from Nicky, and Paul, who's sung with LCGC as well as the likes of Stevie Wonder, the Winans and Deniece Williams. The soulful declarative "It Must Be Love" and "But For Grace", and the groovy R&B styled Lord-affirming "Nobody Else" and "Fast And Pray" all pull in the listener. But elsewhere Paul impresses with his rich vocals on a couple of classical oratorios - JS Bach's "Jesu Joy Of Man's Desiring", and "Be Still My Soul", both of which use real orchestral string sections. The mellow moments continue with the likes of "Choose You", a simple vocal and acoustic guitar praise ballad, and the sumptuously orchestrated ballads "Until Then" and "Were You There?". Paul is clearly an impressive vocal talent endeavouring to take gospel into new musical vistas.
