Down the years hundreds of attempts have been made to graft contemporary elements into the Christmas carols but few have done it as brilliantly as the Midlands rock gospel journeyman manages on "Angels From The Realms Of Glory". With a soulful sample fo some free form scatting and a full on boogie rock arrangement, the timeless classic from Handel's Messiah is given a stunning makeover. Nothing else on this Yuletide set can quite compete, though there's plenty of fun putting a reggae shuffle to "Mary's Boy Child", some bluesy axe licks to "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and a vocoder vocal on "In The Bleak Mid Winter". I've a gut feeling that this little gem could turn out to be Paul's best ever selling album.

This being a Christmas cd is like most, bound to come in for
some stick.I have to say i really like it. If youre up for
some festive boppin round the Christmas tree youll like it
too. Paul a kind of hyrid of Larry Norman and Ray Davies of
the Kinks along with a fine band here will have boogying
well into the new year.Youll probably have to get it direct
from Paul now though.
