Six out of 11, is that a new rating system for Cross Rhythms reviews? No, just a recurring theme on this CD. For a recording whose theme is supposedly Pentecost, at best six of the 11 tracks have the Holy Spirit as their central theme. The CD also introduces us to the song of David Chua, worship leader at Marsham Street, London. But - guess what? - only six of the 11 songs are his. Others are by featured vocalists John Pantry and Simon Goodall, plus there is yet another version of Robin Mark's "Revival". What of the music itself? Pantry's involvement with the project is a fair barometer. If your church holds everyone together with middle-aged middle-of-the-road music that uses pro-programming instead of a live drummer (bizarre gardening accident, anyone?) then you will lap up these songs. Pantry invites us to listen out for these tracks on Premier Radio, and I can imagine they would sit comfortably on Premier's playlist. If that kind of gentle, safe music moves you, then God bless you, this is made for you. I'll hang on for more passionate worship material.
