Pete Caulfield is a worship leader on Merseyside and 'Release Your People' is a showcase for his songwriting abilities. He takes the wise precaution of letting others share the lead vocals which like most of the playing is above average - the only disappointment being the sax which sounds oddly Casio-like. There's a reasonable variety in the material though the Jewish styled Psalm 150 rewrite "Celebration Song" is decidedly stilted and the pseudo-Calypso "Precious Release doesn't really come off. He is obviously at his most comfortable on the slower, more reflective songs like "We Worship You", "As We Gather", "Love The Lord Your God" and a setting of "The Grace".
