The sleeve notes state "This album has been a long time coming. . . some songs were composed up to 20 years ago". It shows! Although several tracks were written by this Dorset-based singer/songwriter in the 1980s the musical style is much more 1960s style folk. The second track "Ruth" is a ballad a little reminiscent of Peter, Paul And Mary whilst "Father And Son" has audible falling snowflakes reminiscent of The Byrds. The flute is played sufficiently deeply that the schooldays recorder ensemble appear to provide the backing. The lyrics are more prosaic, as each track tells a story like a traveling minstrel narrating a Medieval performance. One of the few standouts is Mike Wrixton's pedal steel on the "Superstars" track. In truth though, much of the music here is naive and the performances stilted.
