Petra have been generating music since Shep would not get down in Blue Peter (that is 12 albums in 25 years for the statisticians).  Deeper and down this offering isn't - faultless musicianship and unmistakable American rock, yes.  Petra's personnel may have changed over the years, but their Christian musical foundation has been a solid rock for many.  On 'God Fixation' the Petra rock has had the polished production of the Elephante bros (John having co-written much of the music), and Petra founder, Bob Hartman, also underpins the album with lyrics and guitar too.  Personally, the music failed to inspire me and spiritually was not cutting edge stuff.  However, good tracks include, "If I Had To Die For Someone" - it's one of the questions that provokes a deep soul search.  There's hopeful anticipation in "Over The Horizon" and realistic acknowledgement of the Devil's pull in "The Magnet Of The World".  If you like slick, uplifting, American rock then you've probably read this review.  If you don't then the name Petra is new to you.
