This compilation album draws 11 of its 14 tracks from the two ‘Petra Praise’ albums of 1989 and 1997. This selection has not aged well. Many of these songs were overused in Church and have since been justly retired. The arrangements have also failed to travel well through time. In fact “I Will Celebrate/When The Spirit Of The Lord” is truly awful and other tracks are not far behind. New fans impressed by Petra’s recent ‘Jekyll And Hyde’ album should not be tempted. Nor is there any new/remixed/bonus material here for the diehards. If you want Petra praising then buy ‘Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus.’ Word should be ashamed of this cynical marketing nonsense.
