This year has seen Thumper Punk's patriot hardcore act release a series of four free EPs. Each full of blistering and attritional tracks, Platoon 1107 produce their own distinctive brand of traditional hardcore, centred on themes of God, patriotism and life. This, the first of these recordings, highlights the quality of Jimmy Sisco's writing. "Faithless Elector" delivers an angry rant through a fuzz box of vocals whilst "Dissonant Counterpoint" chugs with a catchy riff that works its way under your skin. The recording, however, opens with a Nirvana cover and closes with the Platoon classic of "My Rifle And I". Both are typically aggressive and full of energy. The seven tracks clock in at just over eight minutes so fly past in an unrelenting hurricane of noise. Having said this, the quality of the recording is good and allows each instrument its own space with only the cymbals lacking clarity. As a short introduction to this experienced outfit, this EP is a sound place to start.
