Here's a four piece band coming out of Christian City Church, Oxford Falls, Australia which is quickly emerging as a bit of a hotbed for vibey worshipful music. Launching the album with the huge yet somehow understated 11 minute opener "View Of The Heavens" featuring some incredible freeform vocal work from guest vocalist Janine Maunder immediately captivates my attention. And that's the vibe for the whole album, drifting, compelling, seemingly spontaneous yet beautifully worshipful music that incorporate song lyrics but seem to stretch out beyond the horizons of what we're used to when it comes to worship songs. The mainly acoustic "Heaven's Comfort" builds from a quiet opening into another huge piece of musical beauty. "My Everything" is another drifting, prayerful piece that touches me deeply. I think what I like most about Prayerworks is that it seems unhurried and spiritually conceived rather than another conveyor belt praise album and for that I am eternally grateful! If you loved it when Kevin Prosch used to simply play spontaneously in live worship times, then you'll find that same approach here.
