"Some went through the fire/Some went through the flood/When we stand in Heaven/It will be because of the blood." It's a funny thing about AOR, such is the stylised nature of its musical conventions that the first time you hear a new song, particularly by an up-and-coming act, that you tend to write it off as derivative. So I did with the California team's "Through The Fire", featured on Volume 17 of the Cross Rhythms Experience. But the more I played that tape the catchier the track seemed while the full impact of the lyrics hit home. By the time I got to examine the CD I was ready to give this set a serious listen. I wasn't disappointed. The moody ebb and flow of "Love And War", the poignant vignette of some dude lost in the world "Lost In The World" and the Petra-tinged "Slippin' Away" all hit home. There are probably too many ballads to make maximum impact among White Heart/Petra buffs but this is still a classy debut by a spiritually insightful band of pop rockers.

I met Ralph yesterday (1/16/2015). He is in Central California. I'm not sure if he is performing with a band right now, but he was playing his guitar in a church office and sounding amazing. He played love and war for me as we stood on the sidewalk on a (believe it or not) Harmony guitar and it sounded incredible. The dude has a great voice.

I was an original member of this band (Ralph Graham & Day III) and it's currently no longer a band. However, the band members are now in the band Missing Piece. ( www.MissingPieceMusic.com ). Be Blessed.
