Building on some strong earlier releases, this hardcore band from Los Angeles return after a two year gap with this seven-track recording. Full of attack and circle pit energy, this offering delivers classic hardcore that spews aggression and venom with every spat lyric and machine-gun guitar part. "Alpha Omega" immediately announces a band with a message. Displaying an almost System Of A Down rhythmical sense, shouts and a plethora of breakdowns characterise what is a bold statement of faith. Richard Haro leads the three other members with uncompromising throaty screams and shouts. "Unburned" is another high energy outing that tightens its grip with on-point timing and sets up the remaining tracks such as "Enemy Lines" with its classic two-step hardcore pace. Having said this, the standout track for me is the lumbering "Legacy" which is sparser in its instrumental setting, but chugs with precision. This is certainly a step up in class from their previous outing and shows that as a band, Rapture are maturing with broader soundscapes and variety. If you like music that is in your face and cannot be ignored, Rapture are for you.
