The final instalment in this year's Forefront remix trilogy, this single takes three of young Australian popster Rebecca St James' songs and puts them in the hands of Tedd T, Chuck Zwicky and Michael (MBL) Linney. The result is a bit of a mixed bag: the three versions "Side By Side" are good, if perhaps a little too sugary for European tastes. That said, two at least do have a successful trance feel about them and the spoken outro on the "Brothers Keeper Extended Mix" is a nice surprise, next up is "We Don't Need It", a pleasing swingbeat song, probably aimed at US radio, which is a good variation for those who enjoyed the album version. Standing out from the rest is the final song, the energetic "Down Under Dub" mix of "Everything I Do", which manages to be genuinely danceable without disregarding much of the original lyric. Very good. So, good message and (mostly) good music but bearing in mind that this is only a single, I will deduct one square for being released at 8.99, much more expensive than the already-gathering-dust import version!
