Formed in 2004, Red On Red hail from Victoria, Australia and having acquired a local following are now looking to extend that with this debut recording (interestingly, entirely recorded in their garage - not that the sound shows it). But the title "Souls > Sales" ("Souls Greater Than Sales") can be taken as a manifesto to show where the focus lies for the band, ie, in proclaiming Christ before selling a lot of CDs. However on this listening they may well sell a few too. The CD is definitely in the modern rock mould with plenty of fuzzy guitar and strong rhythms with a mix on synths for extra spice. But they get above just a rock thrash by the standard of the lyrics which thoughtfully express some of their experience of life, God, and reaching out to show the reality of Christian life to those seeking to find out what difference faith can make.
