I've long been fascinated by Native American music so the prospect of an Native American group (Vince Redhouse (woodwinds) and Abraham Marcor (guitar, keyboards) sounded intriguing even if their choice of material ("The First Nowell", "O Little Town Of Bethlehem", "Coventry Carol") was hardly adventurous. Sadly, my expectation was soon dashed. The first two tracks played on "traditional native flute F#" are full of musical squeaks and such frequent changes of octave that the effect was unintentionally hilarious. Maybe it's the limitations of the instrument, maybe it's Vince's playing but either way the result is distinctly unmusical. Things pick up when Vince switches to tenor sax but even here the renditions hardly rise above yuletide muzak. Oh dear.
