Remnant are a four-piece outfit based in Watertown, Wisconsin. They were formed in 1985 and although there have been some personnel changes and rotation in and out down the years the core of the band and its vision and style has remained pretty much unaltered since then. Comprising acoustic and electric guitars, keyboard and percussion with alternating male and female lead and backing vocals (plus some additional musicians as required), they sing self-penned songs that feature strong melodies and solid, bible-based lyrics of praise, worship and testimony. While the majority of the material may be described as mid-tempo, there is more than sufficient variety of texture, theme and outlook across this collection of 12 new songs (46 minutes) to maintain the listener's interest throughout. The songs are accessible and catchy, and on this recording there is not a weak track to be found; they praise well and confess in an honest, non-self indulgent manner. All told, this is a refreshing collection of tracks.
