This is the debut release from a Brisbane-based rapper on an up-and-coming Australian label. Clocking in at just over 35 minutes, it's a record that's leaner than a serial exerciser yet full of lyrical depth and interesting ideas. Once you get over the pronounced Australian accent, it becomes clear that Revel8 is a talented artist with a great future. The hard hitting "Do You Know", which tackles the whole theme of life and death, and the funky horn lead "Hold The Applause" are real standout tracks and will surely see significant radio play. Only the lethargic "Freedom Of Speech" and unimaginative "Trading Places" let this LP down. Not quite a knock out but this release will certainly have the competition on the ropes.
