"Lift up hour hands in the sanctuary!" rasps the Austin, Texas-based prophetic worship man at the start of his latest live album in such a joyful, cathartic surge particularly when the bass player takes a solo (really) followed by "here we go, here we go, here we go" exhortation from Rick that I'm finding it increasingly difficult to describe the sheer joy this man engenders. Such a stunning opener is followed by some magnificent spontaneous songs like "Be Enthroned" ("Be enthroned in all our praise"), the tumultuous title track and the epic "Spirit And The Bride" where the piano riff is a perfect foil to envelop the listener/worshipper in a wall of noise. No doubt on the night lives were touched, healings were received and chains fell off many of those present. How precisely a music reviewer can review such spiritual power digitally captured here I know not. But POWERFUL 'Rend The Heavens' truly is.
