The CD crackles with energy, is well rehearsed, sharp, succinct, snazzy and slick and has been reviewed already on Cross Rhythms. The Limited Deluxe Edition features the same CD plus an additional 14-track DVD of the same songs on the CD. The first DVD track is a rather fleeting but engaging documentary about the history of gospel music and how Ricky fits into the new generation of the genre, hence the name of his choir: New G. Once the music begins, watching it is a different experience to just listening to it on CD. Some effort has been made to choreograph some of the choir's movements and when it works, it works well, but most of the time the random quantum-jump nature of the choir can look a little messy. There are some soul stirring preachy bits, which will move you to praise God if you listen to what's being said. For those into Ricky's music (and there are many) they may want this DVD edition even if they have the CD. It's something else to see Ricky's elf-like jumping, jolting and jerking around the place.
