A mainstream music release with a couple of overt Christian songs but mainly writing from a Christian perspective, Robin Willow's 'You Touched My Heart' explores a variety of rootsy musical forms. It was actually tempting to look at the song titles and guess how they would sound! I wasn't surprised to find that "Cold Cold Heart" has a country twang whilst "Wheat That Springeth Green" is definitely more folky! "One Man All Alone" sounds like a late '60s sincere message song whilst "Nicodemus" is pure Kinks style Britishness. Actually this album is a lot of fun because you can flamenco to "The Magic Of America" or rock out with "Why So Sad" or even go teary eyed with the tenderness of  "Restless Hearts". Clearly Robin is a bit of a musical magpie and chooses to be the chameleon when it suits him. The only constant factor is his distinctive voice with its folky twang and though I am not convinced how well this music translates onto CD, I have an inkling that live, Robin will knock people dead. Entertaining!
