The shadow of death has tragically fallen over this DVD. As we all know, Ron went to be with the Lord in June. Now it's one thing for an artist to make a recording then a few months later die. But the whole structure of this DVD puts huge emphasis on Ron's escape from death featuring as it does a lengthy testimony (at least 15 minutes) with the Rev Marvin Winans and a doctor of cardiography recounting the moving tale of how Marvin's brother miraculously recovered from a terminal heart condition. There is of course some fine music here, Ronald and CeCe Winans doing a soulful duet on "My Help", the impressive new R&B crew NuDNA and an impromptu ensemble doing "I Make A Promise" with some impressive licks from the mighty Rance Allen. But the editing is clumsy, the track listing on the box is wrong and when you see Ron Winans, dressed in what looked like a giant pair of pyjamas, it's rather difficult to watch, particularly when he sings "I Shall Not Die But Live". I understand they're doing a complete re-edit of this DVD. Very wise, I'd say.
