Judging from this debut EP, Ross Alexander is an artist who loves a juxtaposition. Even the title of this CD has a built in contradiction so if seven is the perfect number of completion biblically, we have an incomplete completion! I like it! Musically, this thing works really well with Ross penning songs that explore the human condition aimed at music fans everywhere. Nothing here is too "churchy" but that's fine by me. From the love song "Stealing Beauty" to the cover of The Almighty's "A Little Lost Sometimes", this all fits together snugly. Musically this draws on a myriad of influences and still sounds original built mainly around Ross's acoustic guitar but with enough bite here and there to keep things interesting. Favourites have to be the darker "They Say" which highlights the emptiness of the so called wise clichés offered by people in darker times. And then there's "Waiting" with its acoustic groove and is packed with observations for those who want to have everything done and dusted before they'll believe. It seems that Ross, formerly the singer with Irish rock band Clay, has discovered the joy in the grey areas of life and sings about those throughout this EP and the result is a thought provoking, musically satisfying seven song journey.
