Ross King is a young Texas-based singer/songwriter who has been in full time music ministry since the mid-'90s, from which time he has also been regular worship leader at the weekly student Breakaway event in College Station. King has featured on three Breakaway recordings over this period (see separate review) and created as many solo works (plus an early collaboration with Chris Tomlin). 'To Make God Famous' is a fine mix of studio and live takes, the majority coming from King's own pen. A truly gifted writer and singer, there is a wonderful worship flow to all 13 tracks, whether the upbeat "Who May Ascend", the terrific cover of Robin Mark's "Days Of Elijah" or the rendition of a couple of lovely, lesser known hymns (a refreshing change from the over-recorded "Be Thou My Vision" or "When I Survey"!). In gentler mode, acoustic tunes like the spiritually honest "In Need", "Truth Unending" and "Holy One" are just sublime. With a competent band and pleasant harmony vocals from wife Staci and friend Caleb Carruth (Shane & Caleb), this sensitive set is a worship gem!
