A welcome UK re-issue of Roy's 1970 Capitol LP which in a long and varied career was actually his first ever recording of contemporary country music in Nashville. Featuring some nice versions of some country hits of the time, "Okie From Moskogee" and "Green Green Grass Of Home". For me the picks of the album are an old cowboy song from an obscure cowboy singer called Jack Webb, "The Night Guard" which also has Roy doing some fine yodelling, reminding us of his days as a singing cowboy of the film world, and "Vision At The Peace Table" which is a very moralistic tale of Jesus Christ uniting the Nations. Opening up with a bouncy track "Money Can't Buy Love" which, whilst not overtly a Christian song, does contain a strong Christian message. The album sounds modern and fresh, something not always the case with all the albums coming from this label specialising in country music re-issues. Footnote: Rumour has it that Roy is coming out of retirement to again record a country album backed by such stars as Waylon Jennings.
