North Carolina gospel singer Ruth La'Ontra has followed up her 2013 'So Good' debut with a live-with-overdubs release that employs the services of gospel star Anthony Brown who has written all but one of the songs that feature here. Brown is also in the producer hot seat and has ensured that the right kind of material has been picked to showcase La'Ontra's impressive voice with the likes of the bouncy title track opening proceedings in upbeat and God-praising fashion with a great vocal from the lady herself. Nonetheless, La'Ontra's powerhouse vocal style and the new gospel sound that dominates the album has been heard countless times before but tracks like the Hammond organ and voice only "Tis So Sweet" and hints of Handel in "Reign" do offer up something that's a little bit different. Several of the tracks are a tad on the long side with the likes of "Come Through" - with nearly nine minutes of vocal acrobatics only to be immediately followed by a pointless reprise of the same song - being something of an endurance test. An extended cover of the Reverend Milton Brunson number "In My Name" and the equally lengthy dance-tinged "On The Way" round off a competent enough release from an undoubtedly talented singer.

Product Description
No need to wait for a behind the scenes story that created the success, it's already here! Tyscot asked Anthony Brown (of Anthony Brown and group therAPy) to produce the sophomore album by Ruth LaOntra! After a face-to-face meeting between Brown and Ruth, the deal was sealed as Anthony was floored by her voice, energized by her potential and agreed. Not only did Brown produce, he also wrote seven songs, co-wrote one with Ruth and another with his production partner Justin Savage; thus the album I Got You was born! The first radio single "Kingdom," with its universal appeal, immediately grabbed the attention of gospel radio programmers out the gate earning 11 adds, becoming the Billboard Gospel Most Added Song!

Further, from the title track " I Got You" that borrows from the hit sounds of the 60's to the soulful songs of "Safe" & "Come Through" an undeniable signature sound was created. Her inspired interpretation of the classic hymn "Tis So Sweet" and the remake of the gospel hit "In My Name" (made famous by Milton Brunson and The Thompson Community Singers) illustrate the sheer vocal beauty, command and control that Ruth La'Ontra displays, which is symbolic of a mature and seasoned veteran. Music lovers worldwide will be elated in proclaiming to Ruth that I Got You!
