Saint Among Us consist of two members, Chris and Troy from Florida, USA. Both sing and play guitar and in January released this, their debut. Their style could be described as unique, though some of the tracks do have the feel of typical worship songs. The title track, "Wanna Be", is certainly original and features an upbeat melody, challenging lyrics and a spectacular guitar solo. The band considers this song to be their creed as it speaks of their belief that the world needs to see Christ through the everyday life of his people. Saint Among Us are not only impressive with their guitars but also through their use of vocals; "In You" is a fabulous example of this. In the chorus a steady rap by The Rickshaw is cleverly layered on top of Chris and Troy's voices to great affect. The duo have also produced some slower songs, such as "Psalm 91"; though it does get louder as it progresses. Yet the listener is unable to fully appreciate this album as the full lyrics are not included, only snippets are provided, which is a shame. I look forward to seeing how this grassroots duo progress.
