British gospel diva Sandra follows up her 2005 debut album by delivering a four-track EP which takes her music in a totally worshipful direction. The soulful touches of that debut are missing here and Godley plays it straight with some self-penned tunes. "I Sought The Lord" is a bit of an epic incorporating a psalm-like lyric with a fabulous emotive arrangement which slowly builds so that ultimately it has a Britpop feel. "One Thing" is a fairly generic pop worship song and the closing "I Find Mercy" is a worshipful ballad that highlights Godley's great voice. The song is disappointing though, in as much as there are plenty of songs just like this around at the moment and I was hoping for something more original. The same can be said for "Emmanuel" which is a pretty standard worship song, trotting out the usual biblical statements about God to a nice pop arrangement. Certainly I can see that Godley's work leading congregations in worship will be helped by such songs but recorded onto CD and heard in the cold light of day away from the service, there isn't enough here.

Wow, great songs, great voice. The lyrics were really touching and sounded beautiful. I just can't wait for you to do more now.

Well done Sandra

I agree with Dave. Very accessible and would happily recommend as a gift to anyone - Christian or otherwise. I too have been listening to Sandra's music, mainly in my car whilst to-ing and fro-ing and am just sad that there are not more tracks to listen to! Sandra's voice is beautiful and very versatile - more tracks could reveal that versatility. I can't get any of those 4 songs out of my head and am found humming them regularly as I go through my day. WELL DONE SANDRA - looking forward to the release or your next CD.

6/10! What? Have you been listening to the same EP as me? I've been listening regularly 'away from the service' and I can't say that I share your reservations. For me, 9/10 is nearer the mark. I reckon that this music is probably more 'accessible' for most listeners - it eases you into God's presence. That's quite a recommendation, I think.
