A wonderful second album (her first was a private recording) with the opening cut "All Fall Down" now getting the honour of a mainstream pop single release. You can soon hear why this lady from Detroit has caught the pop industry's ears. With a delightful indie pop sound; a brittle, vunerable voice; infectious song hooks; and magnificent production from maestro Charlie Peacock, 'Sarah Masen' is crammed full of good things. The talented lass wrote all the songs here, save for Victoria Williams' "Love", and riveting they are too. Try the eery "Break Hard The Wishbone" ("I do not want to step outside the beat/When you're conducting time/My wish is to dance free in front of you/Until you laugh at me"). Hopefully, Sarah's unexpected addition to the Alliance Festival bill will bring this precocious new talent to the UK public's attention. She deserves it.
