This is a promising debut CD from an artist who spans folk/acoustic and indie rock, vocals drawing on the vulnerable-rock-chick Avril Lavigne vibe, Welch’s plain acoustic guitar blending well with the rest of the instruments; her voice is strong enough, with an impressive vocal range, to come across best singing more or less straight, without an overdose of conscious indie “style”. Standout tracks: “Recoil” and “Invincible”.
