It's not often that you will find the likes of Bach, Bartholdy, Brahms, Wolf and Schonberg occupying space on the same disc. It's an interesting contrast, but not one which works for me. Both of the first two pieces by Bach march on uncompromisingly and are a bit too heavy in their interpretation for my liking, but the Bartholdy which follows is beautiful in its expansiveness and feeling. The choir seem to warm up after a rather clinical rendering of the Bach and show what they are capable of, and by the time that they get to the Schonberg they are positively cooking. I don't think that I would buy this one on its own, but having heard it feel inspired to look out works by the likes of Wolf, Bartholdy and Schonberg.
