A mix of self-penned material and cover versions, along with the odd old hymn thrown in, and it's mostly well produced and presented, with Scott coming over strong and gutsy on the up tempo stuff. Sadly, the up tempo stuff is somewhat in the minority, most of it is rather easy listening inspirational fare, and whilst it's OK in absolute terms, it lacks a real spark to transform it from the competent into the excellent. There's a note-for-note cover version of Michael O'Brien's 1998 opus "Give Me Some Room", and there's a couple of songs, "Love Is Free" and "Without You", that would sit well on UCB Europe, but the vast orchestral intro and florid choral arrangement of Thomas Chisholm and Bill Runyan's much loved 1920s hymn "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" sends the Cheese-ometer right off the clock. For me, more chunk and less corn might have lifted this above the average, but I suppose it's what goes down well in North Carolina that counts..
