These cassette albums step from Canada, though why anyone should bother to release these simplistic, basically arranged (Patti Valiant on vocals, her husband Jodi on acoustic guitar) Scripture songs is beyond me. I am sorry but I am just getting increasingly overwhelmed and underimpressed with the constant stream of this wishy-washy praise stuff. There is nothing to differentiate between these four tapes. If you choose to drive yourself potty by listening to nursery rhyme tunes set to basic folky guitar with a bit of synth that's your business, but don't say you haven't been told. Words are all Scripture so they didn't even have to work much at that. Even in the undemanding world of Christian bookshop consumes these sincere though musically vacuous album will surely sink without trace.

I have only had the opportunity to listen to a few of these scripture songs sung by Patty Vaillant when we downloaded them on an MP3 player I received as a gift last year. I am ministered every time I hear them, especially "You Shall Not Need to Fight". I am always amazed at the power in God's Word whether when reading or hearing it. When your spirit is open to the Holy Spirit, or if the Holy Spirit is moving on you, the Word becomes life and does not return void. It is foolishness to those who do not have ears to hear, but to those with ears to hear, may they be blessed, encouraged and strengthened as I have. It is not always easy to be still and know He is God or to even hear His voice even when we think we are listening - there are just so many other voices vying for our attention. It takes discipline to quiet my thoughts, my mind and my spirit so that I can hear that still small voice...and not my own! It is something I continually have to work at and listening to scriptures put to music often helps in the process. What a ministry and what a voice and talent Patty and her husband have to put God's Word to such beautiful music. Thank you and may the Lord continue to lead and guide you in all you do!

You are right, Tony. This music is simplistic. There aren't any fancy fillers, crashing chords, etc., ad nauseum. Some of us are seeking music that speaks to our heart, not our flesh. I enjoy most of the Valiant's music and appreciate their efforts very much. Thank you Patty and Jodi, may God truly bless your work.

You have got to be kidding me. You don't see the value in Scripture put to music??? Music is one of the most powerful memory aides available. Some of us appreciate the efforts to make it easy for us to remember the beloved words of our Lord and Master. I find it amazing that someone was able to so effectively put these words to song. Granted they are not all winners, but before you prejudge the music listen to the following passages scattered throughout the collections James 1:17-20, Lord my heart is not haughty Psalm 131, Great is the Lord Psalm 48: 1 & 2, You Shall not need to fight 2 Chr. 20:17&15, that at the name of Jesus Phil 2:10 & 11, John 13:13-16 you can hear clips on their website scripturesongs.com
