My immediate thought upon hearing this album was "It's just like Anberlin." While this comparison cannot be denied, especially with Josh Frost's vocals sounding so much like Stephen Christian you would swear they were brothers, it does Search The City a major disservice to label them as mere clones. Articulate and interesting lyrics combine with hardcore tinted pop-rock to create an album full of emotion and passion. Clever guitar harmonies bound over a tight rhythm section. The Detroit quintet really display their abilities on opener "Son Of A Gun", "Detroit Was Built On Secrets" and "The Streetlight Diaries". Album closer "Clocks And Timepieces" tries to add a different feel to proceedings, but falls short of the earlier standards, while "The Rescue" is the weakest track on the record. Search The City are close friends having fun with their music and this shows through as you explore further into the album.
