Croatia with its beautiful stretch of Adriatic coast was fast becoming the new Costa del Sol until the violent break-up of Yugoslavia. Croatian band Seekersplanet have decided to export their own brand of sunshine with a fun-filled ska sound. The core members formed the band in 1998 and have since played at festivals such as Freakstock and Balinger Rock Festival. Their combination of guitar-driven punky riffs with a hot horn section combine rhythms that challenge your feet to keep still. No doubt heavily influenced by bands such as Five Iron Frenzy and the OC Supertones, these guys have crafted a tight sound that skilfully switches from heavy powerhouse rock to smooth Latin horns. The album was recorded in Slovenia and mastered in Hollywood, LA. The lyrics give no doubt that the band have a serious message to convey, backed up by the band donating some of this CD's proceeds to youth work in Croatia. I would love to see the band in action live, to this reviewer's ears these guys can sure play. If you search it out, I know this album will be just the tonic to liven up dull winter days.
