In the face of human tragedy, we've become accustomed to recording artists recording singles and albums to raise money, offer hope. etc. Generally the Christian community has been quite slow to respond even though we have a message of genuine hope and healing to offer at these times of grief. One welcome exception is Randall Waller whose single "Side By Side" was written in response to the Port Arthur tragedy and all proceeds from this CD will go to the Port Arthur Victims Appeal. A good cause but is the song any good? Absolutely! Breezy pop rock with a sensitive message of hope and comfort for those who are in grief whilst also taking a stand against the violence of society. Relevant whether for the victims of Port Arthur or any place where innocent people are senselessly murdered through meaningless violence. Randall Waller, who is an Australian veteran of CCM who once worked in the States with Larry Norman and more recently adds some deft keys on some of those anointed Australian praise albums, is to be commended for addressing a difficult issue with great compassion.
