Some well known Taize songs, featuring flute and classical guitar from UK Christendom's popular meditational duo with a good choir of 25 female voices. Many of your faves are present, recorded in the clear acoustics of Holy Trinity Church, Bath. This type of material is never less than enjoyable and refreshing, but various weaknesses emerge on this particular recording. There's an "only just made it" feel to some of the more demanding vocal passages on, eg, "The Lord's Prayer" and soloists such as Robin Noad on "Stay With Me" come on too strong, though the insensitivity might be that of the producers, not the singers. The overall atmosphere seems rather clinical and chilly compared to the originals which for all the flaws often present convey the material with more warmth and depth.
