Simeon is one of the British Christian scene's best known flute and woodwind players though on "Gabriel's Oboe Theme", from the much loved movie The Mission, he offers the haunting sound of panpipes. But Simeon is, of course, not limited to just one instrument. "Warm In Chile" brings the flute to the fore with some nice touches provided by accordion and harpsichord. "Hidden Mountain" introduces the bass flute interweaving with some flowing strings and "Grasping The Thistle" showcases Celtic whistles without sounding too much like Riverdance, quite an achievement really. The production and arrangements are of a high quality and such is the musicianship that 'Crooked Path Straight' works on several levels being both soothing yet conveying considerable emotional intensity. A must for anyone looking for superior background music or something to aid their devotional life.
