Another healthy dollop of invigorating African gospel from this commanding, strident artist. Certainly very aggressive and punchy both music and lyric-wise. Styles encompass Zulu and Sotho brands of the genre. "Thapels" kicks off the session, its theme is prayer, its music rhythmic but with a contemporary keyboard sound and the predictable super harmony singing. "Don't Give Up" is a very commercial, USA-influenced pop item with African sounds creeping in increasingly. Sister Blaze handles this type of material with style and class. "Someone Who Cares", a throbbing ballad that's almost Deep South USA black gospel, emits atmosphere and power. "What A Mighty God We Serve" is given a quite familiar treatment, and I hope the artist doesn't intend to forsake her African sound - she should keep it rootsy and authentic. "Vukani" proves the point - nice'n'natural, sunny and catchy. Good CD from an excellent artist who should not stray too far away from what she does best.
